We will have the same study as the Tuesday Christian Education class: Living the Questions: An Introduction to Progressive Christianity. As always, a pot luck will be held on the third Wednesday of each month. Painting the Stars: Science, Religion and an Evolving Faith

May 3, 10, 17, 24 in the Council Room. 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

 Celebrating the communion of science and faith, Painting the Stars explores the promise of evolutionary Christian spirituality. Featuring over a dozen leading theologians and progressive thinkers, the seven-session program includes:

  1. Toward Healing the Rift
  2. A Renaissance of Wonder
  3. Getting Genesis Wrong
  4. An Evolving Faith
  5. Evolutionary Christianity
  6. Imaging a Future
  7. An Evolving Spirituality: Mysticism

Budd Duncan will provide the leadership for this series of classes. Be sure to join him for a lively discussion of Painting the Stars: Science, Religion and an Evolving Faith.

“Desert Aires Barber Shop”

Desert Aires Barbershop Chorus introduces its newest quartet, Entrenous. The chorus has been the Arizona A Plateau Champions for four years. Entrenous is true with it’s chorus, and sings a’cappella four-part close harmony music.

Tickets for Thursdays@Faith events will be on sale two Sundays prior to the event and at the reception desk during the week. We invite all who attend Thursdays@Faith to bring their own place settings. If you are unable to do so, place settings will be provided.

 

 

Sunday Morning Anchored Word

Anchored Word – a lively discussion group concentrating on today’s issues and how we related them to our Christian beliefs. We meet on Sundays at 8:45 a.m. in Illingworth Hall. You may pick up the subject information to be used for the following Sunday’s Anchored Word at the reception desk Sunday through Friday. Come and be part of the discussion. If you are unable to join us 8:45 a.m. please feel free to join us at a later time, all are welcome.

 

Exercise Classes with Cathie

Cathie Mraz, Parish Nurse, will lead a free exercise class on Monday and Wednesday in Illingworth Hall from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  The class will focus on four aspects of fitness: flexibility, balance, stretching, strengthening. Participants may choose to stand for part of the exercise session and the remaining portion will take place in chairs. This is not an aerobics class and no exercises will be done on the floor. This class is designed for the “able” and “not so able” bodied person. Exercise DVD’s of the class are now available to purchase for $5. Ask for one when you attend the class or call the church office.

 

Tuesday morning prayer and meditation

We invite all to join us Tuesday 9 a.m. Prayer Team:

All are welcome to join in a time of prayer for healing and blessing, especially during difficult times or critical events. Time is also spent in praying for others with special needs. A short spiritual reflection is included. We meet every Tuesday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. in the Family/side room of the Chapel. Prayer request cards are available in the pews, in the lobby and in the Chapel. Come when you can.
